What time should we start coverage on our wedding?
Great question! I typically recommend that we start coverage time 2 hours plus any travel time needed between the getting-ready place and the church. This allows us to capture all your details (invitations, rings, dress, veil, etc), and gives us enough time to capture 1st looks with various family members. Alternatively, if you are looking for family, Mass and afterwards, I recommend starting 60-90 minutes beforehand, starting at the church itself.
Do you travel for destination weddings?
I service the central/western Maryland, D.C. northern Virginia, and southern Pennsylvania areas at this time. Please reach out to see if your wedding falls within my area of service.
can i give you a list of photos that i want?
Yes, but with a caveat. I ask couples to give me a family "shot list," a list of all the different groups within a family that they want after the ceremony (about 10-15 combinations) total. This helps ensure you get a picture with Great-Aunt Susan, and one with your siblings. You are also free to send me a Pinterest board of shots you want, but please know that I cannot guarantee every single one.
Do you offer engagement sessions?
Yes! Our eight and ten-hour packages come with complimentary engagement sessions. If you have already booked another photographer for your wedding, but just want an engagement session, I can do that as well.
When should we book a wedding photographer?

As soon as possible. Most photographers book from 8-12+ months in advance. If I am unavailable for a certain date, I will happily recommend someone.
I put 6-8 weeks in the contract, but my goal is sooner. I want you to have your photos back as soon as possible, but I balance that with making sure they look as beautiful as possible.

How do we book you for the wedding?
We start with an initial phone call, and see if we are good fit for each other. Once we decide to move ahead, I send over intake forms, and then draw up a contract for you to sign and the invoice with the retainer fee.
Can I have the raw/ unedited photos?
No. As the photographer for your event, all pictures taken by myself or my team, and the copyright belongs to Magnificat Photography.
How do you handle family photos on the wedding day?
Remember that list I mentioned above? Please provide a list if you have many family members! This is such a big help in the time crunch after church. Once lighting is set, we have one photographer taking photos, while the other calls names and makes sure that people are ready for when it's their turn. This helps ensure things get moved through quickly.
Do you work with other vendors?
Of course! I am happy to recommend various other individuals in the wedding industry. However, please know that my contract has a "Sole Photographer," clause. This clause explicitly states that I am the only photographer allowed to capture the event. This help prevent other relatives, vendors, and individuals from interfering with time and space needed to capture photos.
FAQ-Finally!
Can you edit my photos to look different than on your website?
No. I photograph and edit true-to-color and light (with maybe a tiny bit of light and airy at times). I do not photograph dark/moody, overly warm (orange-toned), or film style. Photography is an art, and the pictures on my website are indicative of what kind of photos you will receive.
